The next deer farm and park demonstration project event takes place at Borgue Village Hall and Gledpark, Borgue, Dumfries and Galloway (courtesy of Rupert Shaw) on Tuesday 15 September 2015.
The event includes presentations on the deer farming year to date at Gledpark (Rupert Shaw), meat and hygiene requirements (John Fletcher, Venison Advisory Service Ltd) and Growing profitable deer (Jonathan Holmes, Lordington Park Agronomy) as well as a panel session where all questions in relation to deer farms and parks will be welcome.
Afternoon activity includes a walk and talk visit to Gledpark, an in field demonstration by Jonathan Holmes and deer larder exhibit from SMH Products.
The demonstration day comes soon after Scottish Venison Day which takes place on 4 September.
The Deer Farm and Park Demonstration Project is now in its second year and is designed to provide information for those considering diversification into deer farming. The project partners are Scotland Food and Drink, NFU Scotland, SFQC Ltd and the Scottish Venison Partnership. Funding has been made available through the SRDP Skills Development Scheme jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the EU.
